Artifacts Throughout The Year:
The importance of Bilingual Education:
This project included a research paper where I had to explain the academic and social benefits of a bilingual instructed students. During this assignment my writing went through multiple critique sessions according to MLA format. Before this writing piece was written, our class commenced with reaching articles. One of the first articles we read was "Not Just Bilingual—Biliterate!" by psychologytoday.com, which explained the growth of one's skills if practiced biliteracy. In order to write the research paper, I had to get familiar with In-text citations. This rubric is accessible to he left of the text as I used this to help me structure my writing and below is my research paper. Sources are listed at the bottom of my research paper. This includes people that I have interviewed and articles I referenced throughout the research paper.
This assignment was one of my favorite writing pieces I created throughout the semester as I was able to relate to the topic. Bilingualism and the struggles accompanied with it was never relay talked about in school before so it was nice getting informed about studies on this topic and informing others about being bilingual. Before writing this research paper, our class did multiple seminars about bilingualism. I enjoyed this section of the project as I believe seminars are a great way to debrief on an issue and or shine light on it. |
The Fall of the aztec Empire:
Throughout this project my partner and I had to research the ancient Aztec civilization. My partner and I began this assignment struggling in not finding enough information on the after effects of the civilizations extinction. We focused our research on the fall of the Aztec empire and what came after. It didn't took long for my partner and I to realize the connections we had on this topic. Having cultural roots in Mexico, my partner and I learned so much about our heritage as modern day Mexico was influenced by the Aztecs. My partners parents as well mine had connections towards the civilization as there State flags were rich in Aztec history. My fathers flag depicted an Aztec worrier and my partners parents flag depicted an ancient Aztec hieroglyph.
I greatly appreciate this assignment as I learned so much about my ethnic background. This assignment brought up interesting conversations in my family as I had to ask where my family came from. As my family and I discussed Mexican state flags, we noticed the art work on them. I took to research to discover the significance of my parents flags and learned about the countries relation to words the derived from the Nahuatl language. Aztec Notes:
