Juicios/Musical Opinion:
Libros y Articulos/ Reads:
This semester was the first year of Spanish for me. The task of reading in Spanish was intimidating for me at first but eventually I gained new skills as I practiced. I never read in my native language in school before so this year I was really appreciative of this opportunity as it made me developed a love for reading Spanish books. I realized during this semester that I should exercise my biliterate abilities in and outside of school as I believe this will be valuable in the future. After finishing a book students had to write a book report about their thoughts on the moral and characters. This helped me expand my vocabulary as I had to write a page reporting the story. I am grateful for this experience as It impacted me on a personal level coming from a Spanish speaking family. Below each book cover are some morals I was able to take away from the read.
La Casa En Mango Street taught me to be proud of where you come from and to embrace your individualism like Esperanza and her family.

La Cena made me realize to take into consideration of every outcome of a decision. in other words be wise when making a decision.
|
Un Dia En La Vida has brought to my attention that you should value family if you have it and also should take advantage of any opportunity.
|
Cajas De Cartón had the moral of to be appreciative of everything you have and to say thank you to your immigrant parents once in a while as their journey might have been difficult.

Mi Cuento/My Story:
Throughout this project the class had to get familiar with Spanish children's books. Our abilities of creating a book with content that can be read by 1st and 2nd graders where put to the test in this project. Our assignments of reading a certain amount of books in class and writing book reports had lead up to this project. We first started this project by reading story's that where written by kids themselves in Spanish. We analyzed the moral and meaning behind certain scenes throughout the story. We then got familiar by writing rough draft story's with partners and ran it through critique session to help develop a good story for bilingual children.
I enjoyed this project because the subject was relatable as a Spanish bilingual individual. To write this story with my partner, my partner and I had to have the mindsets a bilingual children. Having experience in this, the project was personal to me and made the end result of creating this book Javier El Unico authentic. We wanted to create a moral for bilingual children that taught our them that it was okay to be different as many bilingual children face this issue growing up and sometimes are ashamed of speaking in their native language so it was important to celebrate this in our book.
